Biography of Victor Hugo

Victor Marie Hugo is a French poet, writer, playwright and part of a romantic movement. He is one of the most famous authors in France. In France, his fame first came from his poetry, but later his novels and his play made him famous. Among his many poems, Les Contemplations and LaLégendedessiècles are his most famous pieces. Outside France, he is best known for his tragic world novel and Notre Dame. As a young man he was a loyal royalty, but Hugo's view changed as he grew older, he became a supporter of republicanism.
