Biography of Jonathan Barnbrook

Jonathan Barnbrook was born in England, studied graphic design at Lupton in London suburbs, Central Saint Martin in London, graduated from Royal College of Art in 1990, is a graphic designer, film producer, and printing company. Through his career as a postmodern designer, he was widely known for his typography, and his graphic design was greatly influenced by politics and reading. Barnbrook created works for individual customers and individual works with confidence that design can be used as a weapon to realize cultural and social change.

Barnbrook founded his design studio Barnbrook Design (now Barnbrook) in 1990. His font was originally released by California innovator Emigre. In 2010, his most famous font "Mason" (formerly known as "Manson") released by Emigre became one of the first digital acquisitions of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In addition, his stone sculpture is permanently displayed in the 20th century gallery of Victoria and the Albert Museum. In 1997, he founded his own font company, VirusFonts, and released famous fonts such as "Bastard" and "Tourette". In 2007, the contribution to graphic design in the UK was approved by retrospective exhibition "Friendly Fire" sponsored by the London Design Museum. The monograph "Bernbrook Bible" of his work was also published at the same time. In 2008, Staffordshire University was awarded honorary doctorate in print service.
