Charles Dickens was born as a middle class family on February 7, 1812, at the Portsea Lamport. His father, John Dickens, worked as a staff at a local naval payment office, and his mother was Elizabeth. Soon after his birth, Charles moved to Norfolk temporarily, then moved to London, and finally moved to Chatham. A few years later in 1821, the Navy undertook domestic reforms, Charles' father lost his job, poor his family, and had no stable income (Bloom 7). As a result, the family moved to Camden Town, London to look for work.

(1789-1863) The Dickens family moved to London in 1814 and moved to Chatham State in Kent two years later, where Charles spent his childhood as a child. Because of economic difficulties, they returned to London in 1822, where they settled in Camden Town, a slum town in London.
