Biographical sketch

Dr. Sandra Crespo is Associate Professor of Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University Faculty of Education. She specializes in improving the environment and experience to support student math learning experience, pre-inaugural teacher's learning during teacher preparation, and teacher learning.

Dr. Crespo was a mathematics teacher in the Dominican Republic. She has a master's degree and a doctorate in mathematics education. Course study at the University of British Columbia in Canada. She was an associate professor at Michigan State University from 1998 to 2006 and became an associate professor in 2006.

Dr. Crespo is currently a co-leader in the field (mathematics) of the elementary school teacher training program and is a member of the mathematical standard group of the MSU New Age teacher program. She is a member of the Programming Committee of the National Mathematical Teacher Council and the North American Mathematical Education Psychology Conference. Recently, Dr. Crespo was awarded a special grant from the National Science Foundation to study mathematical pre-service teaching methods, namely spoofing, interpretation, and reactions. In 2004, Dr. Crespo was nominated for MSU Teacher A Scholarship Award. In 2000, she was co-awarded with Helen Featherstone of Langron Technology Foundation and studied teacher's learning at the teacher study group of four city schools.
