Bill of Rights for Parents of English Language Learners

As a parent of an English learner you have the right to have your child undertake free public education in the school district where you live. This is true regardless of the immigration status of you or your child, or the language you speak. You have the right, too.

Please let me register your child at school. Then you will not be asked to share your immigration status with you or your child. You can not ask for provision:

Please translate or translate your child's education to help you communicate with your child's school.

If more than 20 students in the same grade are using the same language, ask them to take bilingual education courses.

In your language (and English), your child is identified as an English learner and is said to be assigned to bilingual education or English as a new language course

As long as you are recognized as an English learner, let your child take bilingual education or English as a new language course.
