English has long been the official language of choice in the United States, as the concept of the United States does not have public official languages. It is used in almost all forms of communication at home and abroad, including politics, science, marketing, and other areas people can think of. The focus of the United States is to integrate the citizens into the English that is being spoken, but little effort has been given to education in other languages. In most provinces, high school requires only 2 semesters second language course, high school usually offers only the language Spanish and French.

The mission of the National Bilingual Teaching Forum (NDLF) is to promote the benefits of bilingual education and promote collaboration between key organizations and individuals who conduct bilingual and bilingual education nationwide. For NDLF members, there are an increasing number of organizations specializing in bilingual and bilingual education and supporting quality and effective programs.
