Bilingualism: The Key to Personal and National Progress

English has long been the official language of choice in the United States, as the concept of the United States does not have public official languages. It is used in almost all forms of communication at home and abroad, including politics, science, marketing, and other areas people can think of. The focus of the United States is to integrate the citizens into the English that is being spoken, but little effort has been given to education in other languages. In most provinces, high school requires only 2 semesters second language course, high school usually offers only the language Spanish and French.

The mission of the National Bilingual Teaching Forum (NDLF) is to promote the benefits of bilingual education and promote collaboration between key organizations and individuals who conduct bilingual and bilingual education nationwide. For NDLF members, there are an increasing number of organizations specializing in bilingual and bilingual education and supporting quality and effective programs. Recognizing the important role of school leaders in the success of bilingual bilingual education, this article explains the theme of leadership in these courses.

School leadership is the foundation for the success of the bilingual bilingual education (DLBE) course and can support, decline or eliminate bilingual education efforts. This white paper of the National Bilingual Forum highlights the need for school leaders in DLBE and outlines the characteristics demonstrated by the success of the project leader. An effective DLBE leader has a deep understanding of bilingual and bilingual in school and new bilingual. They set a clear vision for the success of all students and are aware of the importance of intimate school and community partnership. Effective leaders are also focusing on the power of distributed leadership with social justice as the central goal.
