A big fish in a small pond I was introduced to Costa Rica last summer and I was introduced to a new culture and lifestyle. The national slogan "Puravida" is a daily greeting, I ride a bicycle along the dirt bike to the city for a Spanish course. "Pure life" is an essential element of Costa Rica's identity in this increasingly globalized world. In the town where I live, people will work for the day's fishing, guided tours and the next three days of vacation and will show a different lifestyle from American entrepreneurs.
For some people, going from a big fish in a small pond to a small fish in a big pond is annoying. Malcolm Gladwell wrote this in his book "David and Goliath: The Lost, Inappropriate Art and Fighting Giant".
