My thesis focuses on issues relating to the history and culture of thought in accepting the Bible in contemporary culture. I will study the repetition or development of Bible themes in the Bulgarian literature of the 20th century as a representation of contemporary Bible interpretation in the Balkan context. I regard literature as a cultural product to demonstrate cultural change and philosophical exploration, and make it a material with a great potential for research. My Bulgarian example will help answer some important questions. What are the origins and objectives of modern biblical interpretation? What is its intellectual property? What is the relationship between modern Bible acceptance and cultural heritage?
