Beowulfs Origins

Beowulf was born earlier than the time when you could easily access manuscripts and texts. It was a general matter, and most illiterate farmers were reading at that time. Beowulf was recorded in Old English but it is easy to think that its roots are routed in most parts of Western Europe and can be found in most verbal traditions of established ancient Germanic tribes . Because of this tough verbal tradition, stories and legends are conveyed by the narrator who recites their story from memory. Beowulf reflects this tradition in various ways.

Liu Za's reflection on the translation of R · M Beowulf regarded this early work as historical text, poetry and myth. However, the ambiguity surrounding the Beowulf origin restricts isolated historical analysis. As Liu Zha acknowledges, Beowulf was "a fictitious matrix in the past" (17) and survived in a small collection of other texts copied by two different authors. (11) Literary analysis is not satisfactory as this verse may be derived from verbal traditions. Beowulf is "irritated with contradiction" (11). However, treating it as a work of myth is a powerful shot to understand the imagination of Scandinavia.

The scholars have long discussed the origins of Beowulf's role. Some think that Beowulf existed in Beowulf's legendary legend rather than others, but others thought that the Beowulf poet invented his Geatish hero.
