Beowulf and Sir Gawain: a Comparison of Two Heroes

In Beowulf, Sir Gawain, and Green Knight, two heroes help today's readers understand that medieval heroes are ideal and necessary victories. Beowulf and Sir Gawain each play different roles in their own society. Beowulf wants to be a leader and a savior when in trouble, and to spare no efforts to help other groups and their own kingdoms. Sir Gawain is happily promoted when he has trouble in court but lacks altruism inherent in Beowulf leadership.

In each sentence, they are exposed to the events that require their actions and form the shape of their personality.
