Even though men were beaten at Glendale, they did not affect him like Beowulf. Glendell is fighting for the sake of this world, and he knows this. Glendell did his best to defeat Beowulf, but could not do it because of the courage and strength that was demonstrated by Beowulf. Although Beowulf had no weapons, he had no bare hands and armor, but the clothes he wore on that day beat Glendell. Beowulf defeated Glendell not for entertainment purposes but to protect everyone from horrible beings.
