Different - In short stories Matthew lived in the street from my life, except for his name and obstacles, I know little about him. Poor Matthew was born dull, and had many mild obstacles, making life more difficult. Matthew is an adult now, but he has a 9 year old heart. The length of the work is one of the main differences between short stories and novels. But this is not the only difference between them. Novels are not just short stories connected in series. It has to have a cumulative impact on the set of climaxes pointing to the reader and the last climax of the book. The novel needs to guide the reader to the way that way goes. Each scene is inevitably linked to the next scene. Each climax is written to prepare the reader about what is going on next. It enhances tension, curiosity, interest, and expectation. Novels may contain several twists and rotations in the plot, but each part is meant to take us to the final climax.

Raleigh Moore used to say "short stories are human relationships, novels are married, short stories are photos, novels are films." Literary ecosystems take different forms of different positions. Several prominent writers have been successful in some way. Constraints and freedoms are different, and readers often encounter work in different ways. Categories are always porous - many books are combinations of novels and non-fiction, or poetry and novels - but short stories are a unique and prominent form deserving their own awards.
