The campground of Birkenau is divided into sections surrounded by electric fences with barbed wire. In 1943 and 1944, the part of BIIb became a seat of the telegene family camp. At the summit, there were over 100,000 prisoners in Birkenau. In March 1942, the Auschwitz concentration camp was founded near Monetitetz. German company I. G. Faben set up a synthetic rubber factory there for slave labor of prisoners. There are 45 other camps in Auschwitz, prisoners are forced to work as slave laborers, mainly German companies.
