Ten years ago, NEA supported the establishment of the 21st century skill partnership (P21), started a two year development journey in 2002, and developed the so-called "21st century learning framework". Skills In the past eight years, 16 states have joined P21 and agreed to incorporate the results of the 21st century into their standards, professional development and evaluation. Over the years it has become clear that the framework is too long and complicated. In order to solve this problem, we interviewed various leaders and decided which 21st century skills are most important for K - 12 education. It is nearly unanimity that four specific skills are the most important. They are called "four C".
