Basic training for street gang investigator training is designed to develop the ability to swear a gang investigator with a little official gang training. Training provides officials with information to better identify gang indicators and to understand the differences between gang crimes and other crimes. The course provides tools and resources for gathering information, investigating gang crimes, and conducting gang suppression activities. These courses are built on top of each other and are designed to provide robust core knowledge of gang related topics. The purpose of the basic training program for street gang agents is to provide police officers with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to safely and effectively investigate gang crimes.

This training was developed for gang staff and information analysts who are currently assigned to gang investigation and their gang investigation experience was less than three years. This training is also useful for other law enforcement officials who encounter gangs on the street.
