Barrier Beach in Long Island, New York There are various kinds of coasts all over the United States. The South Shore of Long Island has a unique coastline called barrier beach. Barrier beach is a narrow terrain consisting of sand and other lost deposits. These sediments are summarized by waves, water currents and storm surges. The same constant change can be seen on the barrier beach. Sand is eroded all the time in a certain area, and it accumulates in another area.

Fire Island: This thin barrier island is located not far from New York, on the southern coast of New York's Long Island.
