The rest of the collection at the Vatican Museum is wonderful: some of the most important world art. The museum is in the palace originally built for the Renaissance pope.
Baroque is an emotional architectural style that takes full advantage of the dramatic possibilities of urban landscapes. The most important is San Pietro square San Pietro square (1656 - 67) in front of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. The architect Giovanni / Gianlorenzo Bernini encloses the square in the plaza and spreads slightly to tell visitors the impression that they are accepted by the Catholic Church as they approach the Cathedral. The whole way is built with huge scale in awe.
