Babbitt 's irritated tragedy, known by Lewis Sinclair, precisely depicts the customs of the 1920s. Sinclair accurately recalls the integration that shapes the culture of growth and the orthodox lifestyle. In the 1920s, people fell into a lifestyle that he had been thinking about something. Lewis explicitly explained the limits of practices that bothered George Babbit and laughed at the whole society due to the lack of a liberal view. Babbit in the novel seems to be trapped in the maze, it is told by "machine" when to turn.

Despite being an active member of Zenith society, many incidents increased complaints about Babbit's life, he opposed integration. After his best friend Paul was imprisoned, Babbit noticed his life is meaningless. His dreams he accepted became irrelevant, he made a short rebellion from everyday society. Without a good wife or close friend relationship, Babbit wants to end alcoholic frustration by drinking and doing parties too much, but still anxiety remains. He recognized that in addition to material peace, a male said "It's easy to discuss with him ... and someone who appreciates him" is necessary, as it infects local women. There is no positive change in the temporary relationship, and Babbit can not really feel happy. Babbitt noticed that there was a change, but he also realized that "his rebellion does not result in anything" and was not satisfied with his new situation. It requires a lot of courage, and Babbit is proud of his patience.

Babbitt dreams of improving his position in the community without noticing that hypocrisy affects every decision or action he does. Babbit concentrated time and energy on activities and events that impressed the upper class. His life is centered on important projects and goals. Mr. Babbit and his wife hosted dinner and invited only the most respected couple. They are planning "elegant things ... need evening dresses" and I'd like to impress their wealthy guests. The night is full of meaningless conversation, and the man is a vulgar and simple joke. Even if there is no real meaning in the night, everyone seems to have had a good time. Immediately afterwards, the name and face of the rabbit was noticed in town. In order to impress the upper class, Babbit made an exciting speech and suddenly learned that he became one of the most popular and famous people in the conference.
