The Australian High Court High Court is the Australian Judicial Supreme Court. It was founded in 1901 by Article 71 of the Constitution. The function of the High Court is to interpret and apply the Australian law, to judge federal special significance cases, including to object to the constitutional validity of the law, and to judge the federal, state and local courts It is to appeal with special permission of. The High Court is located in Canberra and has its own building in the triangle of the Parliament House.
In February 2016, the Australian High Court dismissed the constitutional issue for Nauru's detention system. The court ruled that the role of Australia in securing funds and participation in asylum seekers and refugees detention at Nauru was approved by law. However, in April, the Papua New Guinea Supreme Court ruled that it is unconstitutional to detain asylum-seekers on Manus Island. In August, both Australia and Papua New Guinea governments did not have a timetable, but agreed to close the center.
