Augustus poetry often overcomes hardships that can hardly be overcome and a great work of art was born. Since Julius Caesar's death, many years of bloodshed and civil war have tormented Rome, but some of the most influential literature in the Western Europe developed during that period. During the Augustus era (43 BC - 17 AD) great writers such as Virgil, Horace, Levi, Plyvis, Ovid produced masterpieces of epic literature and philosophy. The emergence of a new aspect of Roman literature is possible through the joint efforts of these great poets and writers and Augustus himself.

My understanding of Augustus's poetry is based on my experience as a millennium in Italy.
