Auburn's Sol - Auburn University solar team - recently participated in the 2005 North American Solar Challenge. On 27th July 2005, Auburn 's car ranked 12th in the finish line of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Auburn SOL is the only solar car in Alabama, and the project consists of four teachers and over 20 undergraduates. Warhawk Flying Team (WEFT) - a student organization consisting of pilots and non-pilots. Most team members are experts in flight management, aviation management or aerospace engineering. WEFT is competing with other flight teams at the Safety and Flight Evaluation Meeting (SAFECON) supported by the National Association of School Unions of Schools (NIFA).

Aeronn University Department of Aviation is fully certified by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America as an aircraft authority with jurisdiction of private, commercial, instruments and multi-engine course. In April 2015, Auburn University received the first US Federal Aviation Administration approval to operate a new UAV flight school at the Auburn University Aviation Center. Schools of aviation management and supply chain management are the only programs in the country certified by the Advanced Business School Association (AACSB) and the International Aviation Certification Committee (AABI). The flight plan of Auburn was created 65 years ago and is the second most recent university flight plan in the USA.
