Due to this increase, depletion of fossil fuel resources such as coal, oil and natural gas is accelerating (see Figure 2). Fossil fuels have been the most traditional energy source for centuries.

In nuclear fission that generates energy, atoms are split to form smaller atoms and emit energy. Nuclear power plants use nuclear fission to generate electricity. Nuclear power plants are very clean and efficient. However, nuclear power plants have some serious environmental risks. Nuclear power plants produce radioactive gas. These gases are included in the operation of the plant. Release of these gases into the atmosphere can cause serious health risks. Nuclear power plants generate electricity with uranium as a fuel. Mining and handling of uranium is extremely dangerous and radiation leakage may occur. The third issue of nuclear power is permanent storage of spent radioactive fuel.
