Paul Tillich is famous for his own concept. However, this concept is as old as theology and words go back to Parmenides. After discovering the 19th century hundreds of years later, Tillich used it as his own and applied it to God, Christology and Trinity doctrine in his apology system theology. His theology responds to the questions raised by the philosophy arising from our universal ultimate concern - the finiteness of life in the shadow of eternal death, in particular existentialist existentialism.
