Can Confucianism enrich Chinese foreign policy? The purpose of this thesis is to explore the main tradition of Confucian foreign policy in the history of the Chinese empire and to propose the influence of this on the foreign policy of modern China. The general concept of Confucianism pacifism is not a reliable tradition of Confucian foreign policy, it is a contemporary Chinese myth that was built in the beginning of the 20th century. On the contrary, the tradition of Confucian foreign policy is characterized by contrasting the concept of inclusiveness with the concept of foreign aversion and has not abandoned the use of force as a legitimate tool of foreign policy. Both traditions are supported by Chinese traditional anthropological theory. The use of inclusiveness or foreign phobia in foreign policy is an accidental result of the interaction of relations in China's diplomatic relations. Confucian comprehensive humanism is embodied in a comprehensive tradition and can provide important ideological awareness for contemporary Chinese foreign policy.
