This interesting book is a work of political economy conceptually reported by Michel Foucault to study the environmental theme of Xiong Village villagers at the foot of the Himalayas in northern India. This is part of a series of articles by Duke University Press titled "New Ecology of the 21st Century" edited by Arturo Escobar and Diane Rocheleau. Editor of this series wishes to establish dialogue on "environment, place and alternative social order" among experts in various fields. Arun Agrawal keeps track of Chumannon's environmental identity change over the past 150 years as related to politics, technology and new forms of knowledge. In order to better understand the relationship between these factors, the authors combine the terms "environment" and "government" to form a new term "environmental". faith

Recent studies investigating this trend include Alberto Moreiras, "The difference in politics of poor people and Latin American cultural studies", and John Beverly's "The People and Representatives: Culture".
