Drug use rates among young Canadians are the highest in the world. The cause of this phenomenon has not been fully investigated, and one possible background determinant is participation in physical activity to promote risk through physical and social mechanisms. Therefore, according to the 2013 - 2014 School-Age Child Health Behavior (HBSC) study, we validated this hypothesis with a sample from a modern country in Canada's adolescence.

The strength and direction of the relationship between sports and material use depends on gender and real and participation in team sports increases overeating (male RR 33 [95% CI 13-1.56], girls RR 21 [1.06-1.38 ], Not used) Tobacco (men's RR 68 [1.34-2.10], female RR 32 [1.01-1.72]), but cannabis use rate is low (RR 0.73 [95% CI 0.61-0.88]), only girls smoking (Sports team as the main companion group) and physical participants (higher day / week physical activity) with high participation rate of social participation (RR 0.79) [95% CI 0.70 - 0.89] I compared it with low sports athletes. For boys, the combination of high physical participation and high social participation is associated with the highest risk, but high social participation is only related to the girl's greatest risk.

Team sports participation only increases the risk of using materials, but the universality of sports participation can have a big impact on the population. Based on this fact, it is necessary to consider interventions such as policies that encourage parents and coaches education and participation in various extracurricular activities.

Among young people who participate only in sports, more physical participation is associated with a faster average acceleration of alcohol problems. The vertical relationship between physical participation and alcohol-related behavior depends on whether respondents are participating in non-male / boy and women / girl activities other than sports. In the first sports that participated only in sports, on average, more sports were significantly related to the rate of increase in alcohol use problems. This finding supports the previous work, suggesting that 3, 13, 36, physical participation is associated with a sharp increase in adolescent drinking. In addition, among the people participating in sports only, it shows that the more participation in sports, the more likely it may be related to the more comprehensive structure of alcohol use including the bad influence of drinking.

Therefore, according to a study of School-Age Child Health Behavior (HBSC) from 2013 to 2014, we tested this hypothesis with a modern nationwide sample in adolescence in Canada. The strength and direction of the relationship between sports and material use differ depending on sex and real, and group sports participation increases overeating (1.33 for boys and 1.21 for girls) and smokeless tobacco (boys RR 1.68, RR 1.32) The prevalence of cannabis (RR 0.73) and smoking (RR 0.79) is low for girls alone
