In the content field curriculum, English learner (ELL) faces a dual task. They have to learn both language and content. Since ELL has no literacy skills, language skills, or background knowledge necessary to master new content, it may have difficulty in content areas such as literature, science, mathematics and social studies. Exchange between teachers and students and interaction between peers is essential for learning. Because of the experience and background diversity that ELL brings to the classroom, it is important to prepare a course that meets your needs. Such a wide scan also helps all the other students in the class.

The term widely used by educators refers to the subject of information that the teacher is teaching and students should study in particular topics and areas of content such as English, mathematics, science, social studies. Content knowledge usually refers to the facts, concepts, theories, and principles of professors and learning, not related skills such as reading comprehension, composition, research, etc. Students can also study in academic courses. The subject area learning standard describes the content knowledge that students should learn in a specific subject.
