The world believes that schizophrenia adversely affects patients and the general community they live in. Despite improvements in education over the years, the myth that is particularly prominent in modern society is that people diagnosed with schizophrenia are dangerous and unpredictable. This stigma has been confirmed by a number of studies conducted in various countries and cultures and the concept of schizophrenia patients is disadvantageous to the way the media is explained by novels and real events.
With regard to unpredictability and risk, people who are dependent on alcohol are the same as or worse than those with schizophrenia and are inferior to those with depression (Table 2). In the UK survey in 1998, 71% thought that alcohol was unpredictable, 65% thought it was dangerous for others. In two ways, people with alcoholism are ranked second after drug addicts and schizophrenic patients (77% unpredictable, risk ratio considered as 71%), followed by people with severe depression ), Panic disorder, eating disorder or dementia (Crisp et al., 2000). After five years there was no major change in public opinion of alcohol dependents (Crisp et al., 2005). No major change occurred after 10 years when 69% of respondents thought alcohol-dependent people were in danger (Pescosolido et al., 2010; Schnittker, 2008).
Comparison between stigma of alcoholism and other psychiatric disorders: Review of group research
The provocative view on psychiatric disorders is common in communities. People with schizophrenia are considered to be dangerous and insulted by unpredictable and difficult conversations. The community gets the majority of psychosis stigma from the media (ie movies, news, newspapers). There are few people who know what the footsteps of people with schizophrenia are like. Jane did not deny this problem like her parents, but began studying schizophrenia. She considers this to be part of what she needs to know because this is present for the rest of her life or until she finds a cure. Jane discovered that the symptoms of schizophrenia may appear suddenly or may develop gradually. Symptoms are divided into two groups: positive symptoms and negative symptoms.
In contrast to general perception, schizophrenia is not a double personality or multiplayer. The vast majority of people with schizophrenia are not violent and do not pose a hazard to others. Schizophrenia is not caused by childhood experience, lack of parent malnutrition or motivation, but the symptoms of each person differ. Scientists are aware that the disease often occurs in families and inherits the tendency to develop disease. Like other genetically related disorders, schizophrenia is characterized by the fact that after the body experiences hormonal and physical changes (such as adolescence and adolescence changes in adolescence) or after coping with high levels of stress .
