Are Husband's Head of the Household?

I grew up in a typical Christian family, and my father is the master of this family. I think that male should be the master of the family. I think people often misunderstand the meaning of parents. In Ephesians 5: 22 says, "My wife will take care of your husband just like you are in your Lord." In my family my father used it as he decided, and that is how it will be in the times. My mother is really struggling with my father to make a decision based on my idea, and it is difficult to justify my mother's thoughts and emotions.
