ArcSite: Enhanced GIS for Construction Site Layout

2023-04-21 12:34:36

In this research, we developed an automatic site layout system for building temporary facilities (TF). A system that includes a database management system (DBMS) and an integrated geographic information system (CIS) ArcSite is a new tool that helps designers identify areas suitable for TF placement. ArcSite includes algorithm-specific knowledge for integrating and automating construction site layouts, TF databases, Arc / Info databases, and TF layout designs. This system proposes a method to acquire expert knowledge in site planning and systematically acquire and interpret that knowledge and experience. Using the concept of eliminating searches, the system has developed a heuristic approach to simulate the human decision making process and to generate potential sites for each TF. Through qualitative and quantitative modeling of facility relations, we developed an objective function called proximity index to determine the optimum position of each TF. Since ArcSite proves that GIS is a promising tool for solving the problem of building layout, we are opening up a new way of thinking about spatial information management in building planning and design.

This article will focus on the development of automatic site layout system for temporary construction facilities. Temporary facility site layout (TF) is an important preliminary planning work that may increase building productivity or adversely affect. Efficient TF layout can greatly reduce construction contradiction and increase project efficiency. In this study, the ArcSite system was developed to help project managers determine the appropriate areas for finding TF. ArcSite consists of GIS ... Read More

Abstract: The focus of this research is on the development of automatic site layout system for building materials. System MaterialPlan combines a GIS-based cost estimation system and a material layout plan, a new tool that helps administrators locate appropriate areas for finding building materials. When you compute a list of all project quantities using GIS, a link is established between the detailed design graphic function and its associated estimator. Based on information on the quantity and location of materials required for the project, this study has determined the appropriate location of the storage material. Using the concept of "eliminate search", the system developed a heuristic method to simulate a human decision making process and generate a potential location for material placement. We developed an objective function called proximity index (PI) to determine the best position
