The carpenter will construct or repair almost all buildings such as houses and commercial buildings, bridges, churches, factories, highways and so on. They use power and hand tools to build crates and concrete forms for houses, roofs, stairs, decks and jackets. Carpenter will make cabinets and countertops with doors, windows and handrails. Carpenter will do internal and external work. They read the blueprint and measure and calculate exactly the dimensions

Carpenter's work is very practical, including standing, climbing, squatting, lifting, squatting. The carpenter must be healthy, agile, and need good hand and eye coordination. Working conditions vary by job

Applicants of interns must be 18 years of age or over or have 17 years high school diploma or general education development certificate (GED).

Blue Mountain Community College cooperates with the Oregon Apprenticeship Council, Apprenticeship and Training Division, the Labor Department and the Regional Apprenticeship Council to provide apprenticeship programs for local companies and industrial companies. The apprenticeship is considered an education and training program to prepare people for crafts and industry careers.

Since 1937, apprenticeship and training has worked closely with employers and workers' organizations, vocational schools, state apprentices, and other personnel related to the American industry apprenticeship program. It has field expressions in 50 countries. Its function is consulting and promotion. It does not itself carry out the training program. One of the main tools for promoting apprentices is through extensive exchange of information about the merits and methods of well-organized, well-functioning apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship and training committees will convey this information widely through discussions at newspapers, industry magazines, employer associations and unions' annual meetings, and regional apprenticeship conferences. Approximately 800 trainees - mostly in the construction, manufacturing, transportation and service industries - are included in the registration plan
