Anxiety in the L2 Classroom

Introduction by MacIntyre et al. Al (1997, p. 266), "Emotional factors may be systematically biased toward self-evaluation of language abilities." This description helps me understand my second language learning , And provide the theoretical basis of the experience of this semester. In this article, I will learn about the role of anxiety and my management strategy in my simultaneous L2 learning. I will also study the close relationship between my anxiety and motivation. My career I grew up in a bilingual family who speaks English and Tagalog.

The argument of using the first language (L1) in the second language (L2) classroom has long been common in the second language acquisition (SLA) study. Researchers believe that L1 is always in the mind of the learner and is often accessed throughout the L2 learning process, so teachers and learners avoid the legitimacy of avoiding code switching in the L2 classroom I think it should be (Cook, 2001; Macaro, 2001). This is not a brand new discussion. The new study mentioned by Auerbach (1993) shows the advantages of using L1 in English as a second language (ESL) classroom, and that it is "linguistics" to follow English only in the classroom Suggest (page 11). Macaro (2001) also claimed to use L1 in the L2 classroom, mentioned earlier publications.

According to Nation (2003), the use of L2 in a foreign language classroom needs to be maximized as much as possible. L2 should be the core language used for classroom management and learning, but since it plays a minor but important role in conveying meaning and content, use of L1 should not be abandoned. This role is important for all language skills such as reading, writing and learning vocabulary. In 2008, Liu conducted fairly simple and comprehensive research on the use of L1 in L1 vocabulary learning. Mentor or obstacle, and investigated the influence of L1 use on L2 vocabulary education.
