The table and table below provide information on world water usage and water usage in two different countries.

This graph compares the amount of agricultural, industrial and domestic water use around the world with the water consumption of Brazil and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

It is clear that water demand in the world has increased significantly from 1900 to 2000, and agricultural water accounts for the largest proportion. It also shows that Brazil's water consumption is far greater than the Congo's water consumption.

In 1900, the world's agricultural sector used about 500 square kilometers of water. The amount of industrial water and household use is about one fifth. By 2000, global consumption of agricultural water increased to about 3,000 cubic meters, industrial water consumption increased to less than half, domestic consumption reached about 500 kilometers.

The population of Brazil and Congo in 2000 was 176 million and 2 million respectively. Brazil's per capita water consumption is 359 cubic meters, 8 cubic meters much higher than the Congo. This can be explained by Brazil's irrigated area increase to 265 times.
