Animal Testing: A True Ethical Dilemma

Imagine life is kept in a cage without any form of control over your existence. It's cold, dark and scary. You can not choose what to eat, where to live, and how to get treatment. It's day or night, I do not know what will happen next. You are trapped in solitary confinement, you are innocent. This is the life of experimental animals. Animal experiments are scientific research purposes and use of animals for experiments. It can be used to treat new medications and drug discovery, and to understand the behavioral psychology of the animals themselves.

This report is based on literature review of an ethical dilemma arising from controversy concerning the use of animals for testing and research. I tried to explain animal experiments briefly and discuss broadly the ethical theory to support and discuss the use of animals. The use of animals for study observation and experiments to better understand the response of specific substances or raw materials to specific goods or drugs consumed by consumers can be referred to as animal testing. Animal experiments are ethical dilemmas, as they are using other creatures for the benefit of mankind when they can not give consent. Animals are only protected by animal welfare law. People who oppose animal experiments prove their position is correct by pointing out that many experiments are physical suffering and that living conditions can cause psychological problems in animals. Therefore, floating animal tests are not correct. These statements have a basic moral dilemma for animal experiments Is the right or wrong experiment of animals for human interests right or wrong? In this article we will examine the rights of animals from the utilitarian point of view. I define main ideas and animal experiments that are held by Utilitarianism. I will explore the case of supporting and opposing animal experiments using Utilitarian reasoning (including the difference between Bentham and Mill, utilitarianism of behavior and rule, cost benefit analysis). Finally, I end my emotions on conclusions drawn from animal experiments and analysis.
