During her 20's, Angela Lee Duckworth worked as McKinsey's management consultant and taught mathematics at public schools in San Francisco, Philadelphia and New York.
After teaching in seventh grade for five years, she returned to graduate school to obtain a doctorate. She is a psychology department at the University of Pennsylvania, and currently she is an associate professor of psychology. Her research includes students, West Point students, business sales staff, they are research institutions that judge that "gravel" is a better indicator of success than IQ and household income I have.
"The investigation by Angela Lee Duckworth supports my important beliefs about the success of individuals, teams, and business, although intelligence is necessary, proving that the determinant of success is perseverance, effort, and improvement I am power. "- Forbes Shabbir Dahod
This is TED 's lecture by Angela Lee Duckworth in 2013. He is a psychology teacher. Angela is studying how gravel, self-discipline, and perseverance can predict individual success. In her speech, she said that gravel is a predictor of student success over any other factor. Test scores, IQ and even safety in the classroom are not the best way to predict success. Defining gravel is one thing. Application of gravel is another. Some people seem to have been born with gravel in the blood. This is just a function, it is only the selected function. For the rest of us, we have to plant gravel in our hearts garden. Fortunately, due to our brain's adaptability, gravel will grow not only in any way, but also prosper.
Angela Lee Duckworth teaches seventh grade. If you invest time and energy, they can learn materials. Her most talented student is not the most talented student, it is a student doing special things that makes work more difficult than other students. Her research is ongoing, and several interesting discoveries were made. She analyzed a group of successful people: students, soldiers, salespeople, and spelled bees. Over time, she concluded that the most successful people have important things - perseverance
Over the past 11 years Angela Lee Duckworth of the University of Pennsylvania has conducted innovative research on grit quality and individuals can work hard and maintain long-term passion and goals. In an interview with educational leadership, Duckworth explained what her research reveals about the relationship between courage and achievement, and she explained that students develop courage and other non-cognitive features I will contemplate the importance of helping. Different people use different elastic words. More confusing is that there are often many duplicates in the way people use it. For example, my consultant Martin Seligman and his current colleague at the University of Pennsylvania have a program called Penn Resiliency Program. It's all about assessing a specific definition of resilience, optimism, that is, without distorting the situation, and thinking about possible changes to your life.
