Andrew Johnson was not chosen to fill the Lincoln, he was elected just as his vice president. After assassination, he was in a very difficult situation. Rebuilding America after the civil war will be a heavy burden for him. He has some compliance from the country he left and plans to unite the whole country before the civil war.
