She is an official of class farewell actor, captain of swimming team, and National Honor Society. She completed a two-year pre-care course at the University of Houston and then graduated from the Texas College of Nursing in Houston in 1986. From 1986 to 1994, she worked as a nurse at the University of Texas Anderson Cancer Center.
