Ancient Rome was a powerful and important civilization that dominated the majority of Europe for nearly 1000 years. The culture of ancient Rome spread throughout Europe during its reign. Therefore, Roman culture continues to influence today's Western world. The foundation of Western culture was born in ancient Rome, especially in the fields of government, engineering, architecture, languages ​​and literature. Rome originally became a republic. This means that Roman leaders such as Senators were elected officials for a limited period, not kings who were born under the leader and dominated their lives. They have complex governments that have balanced laws, constitutions, and forces. These concepts are very important in the formation of future democratic government like the United States.

The rich and powerful people of ancient Rome were aristocrats who dominated the city from the Senate. The Senate is the Roman Governing Body that the Republic voted by the Citizens Council and fair or property people once a year. All social and political power is in the hands of some ancient families such as Cornelii, Julii (family of Caesars) and Aemilii. The Senate lost most of its power under the rule of the emperor, but the family of nobility still caused public opinion.

For an ancient Roman woman, life is not as easy as a man's opponent. Ancient Rome was an authoritative society in which men dominated public life and dominates their families, women of ancient Rome were regarded as citizens of the empire, and sometimes they could not vote for public office. This limitation decreases the visibility and importance of women in public life and therefore does not know many famous Roman women. Nonetheless, despite these limitations, some women in Roman times rose to an important administrative and military position and left their marks in history.
