The ancient Greek civilization was in the southeastern part of Europe on the Mediterranean coast. The geographical location of this area helps shape the government and culture of the ancient Greeks. Geographical structures including mountains, oceans, islands form the natural wall between Greek city cities and make Greeks settle along the coast.

The Mediterranean region where the Greeks first settled was known as the Aegean. The Greek city state is scattered around the Aegean coast and many islands of the Aegean Sea. The Greek people moved from one city to another using the Aegean Sea. The Aegean Sea also offers fish for people to eat.

The country of Greece is full of mountains. About 80% of the mainland of Greece is a mountainous area. This makes long distance traveling on land difficult. The mountains also form a natural barrier between major city states. The highest mountain in Greece is Mount Olympus. The ancient Greeks believed that their gods (12 Olympic athletes) lived at the summit of Mount Olympus.

There are more than 1,000 islands in the Aegean Sea. The Greeks settled in many of these islands including Crete (the largest island), Rhodes, Chios and Delos

The climate of ancient Greece is generally hot in summer and calm in winter. As it is too hot, most people wear light clothing throughout the year. On cold winter days, they wear cloaks and raps

Peloponnesos Peninsula - The Peloponnese is located at the southern end of the mainland of Greece. It is almost an island, connected to the mainland on a small land called the Corinthian Strait. On the Peloponnesos Peninsula, there are major Greek city states such as Sparta, Corinth and Argos.

Central Greece - the northern part of the Peloponnesos Peninsula is Central Greece. Central Greece has famous Athens and the city of Athens.

Northern Greece - northern Greece is divided into three major regions: Thessaly, Epirus and Macedonia. Mount Olympus is located in northern Greece

Islands - The main groups of the Greek Islands are Cyclades, Dodecanese Islands, Islands of the North Aegean Sea

Ancient Greeks speak the same language and have a similar culture. However, although they are not big empires, they are divided into several powerful city states such as Athens, Sparta, Thebes.

The Greeks established colonies throughout the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. This includes villages in modern Italy, France, Spain, Turkey and parts of North Africa. These colonies will help spread the Greek culture throughout the region.

The Greeks called their land "Hellas." The English word "Greece" comes from the Roman country "Graecia".

Under the rule of Alexander the Great, Greece spread to the great empire including Egypt and extends to India.

The Pindus mountain range extends north to south along the major part of the mainland of Greece. It is sometimes called "Greek spine".

First, since "ancient Greece" is not an entity but a geographical space, we can not compare "ancient Greece" and "ancient Rome". What I call "ancient Greece" is the land itself of Greek we know now, but that was a long time ago. This is because the Greek city states living in this land collapse and are constantly fighting each other. They have no unit at all! Occasionally, like the Delhi alliance and the Corinthian alliance, they build loosely integrated alliances, they follow the same interests and offer military and economic assistance to each other. In most cases, this alliance is guided by superpowers forcing other countries to participate in the destruction of threats. So it is not completely unified. For comparison, you need to show the state of the exact city. Because they are completely different from each other.

The theater of ancient Greece was a theatrical tradition developed in ancient Greece between 550 and 220 BC. Athens is the center of an ancient Greek theater. Tragedy and comedy are the format of the drama done there. The origin of Western play is in ancient Greece. It was developed at the festival of Athens to commemorate God Dionysus. The Greek theater is held in an outdoor theater and is always performed by three male performers. Today, one-third of the world's population is monotheism ("Religious Statistics of the World"). Still, in ancient times, it was not such at all, as most cultures are polytheistic. Greece is a country located in the southeastern part of Europe, today it is famous for Greek gods and goddesses This is the power of the Greeks. Greek gods and goddesses are a group of 12 Olympic athletes.
