Since 1977, I am a little interested in the history of Russia I was 9 years old and I saw Dr. Zhivago with my mother. This historical movie is based on Boris Pastelnak's classic. My fourth grade teacher is Russian, her family culture is expressed through her teaching. For the next Christmas concert, she organized a rhythmical semi-gymnastics dance number with a ball composed of seven female students and myself. I think it is very "European" and we really like the song we interpreted as a soundtrack for Dr. Zhivago. I am very crazy about Russian culture, I read the book version of this movie, and then I am reading the other Russian classics like Tolstoy Anna Karenina and war and peace. I only want to explain that my curiosity and sympathy for the people of this country comes from a kind place.
It was Dr. Zhivago of David Lean who gave me a big influence since I was young. I am not comparing myself with Lean, or my movie Zhivago. From the story point of view, this revolutionary and annoying love story is the end of the First World War and the Bolshevik Revolution. So from this point of view I would say that Dr. Zhivago really inspired me. I like that music, I like emotionalism, so I hope they are part of my movie.
