An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives

Note to readers: This article is experimental. I am familiar with the standard guidelines and problems students have to ask for and the meaning of disqualification. Course overview The course overview and purpose of the course are excerpted from the explanation of the AP English course issued by the University Council. The choice of text is based on the list of representative writers. Except for Mark Twain, all authors chosen for the course are from this particular list, and it is mainly nonfiction. The goal of short-term writing of this course is to develop students' ability to clarify their arguments and support these assertions with relevant evidence and exemplary comments. The long-term goal of this course is to provide rhetorical strategies to students and to understand the function of these strategies in specific writing context. The following are examples of writing skills and methods of operation taught in the previous semester, and editorials and revision symbols that the teacher uses to evaluate students' composition. Students also use these same symbols in the companion, self correction and editing phases of the writing process. Depending on the task of the essay, we ask the students to display these revised symbols and annotated revisions and versions on the first draft submitted.
