An Integrative Approach to Teaching Writing

The second writing instruction method which occupies the mainstream in recent years and opposed to traditional writing instruction method is the process approach. The advantage of the process approach is to make feedback an important part of the curriculum. Zamel (1976) introduced the concept of the writing process in the EFL study, he believes that advanced EFL writers are similar to L1 writers and can benefit from the teaching emphasizing the writing process. Contrary to the notion that composition is regarded as recurrence of syntactic structure or discourse structure of pre-learning, a process-based approach highlights the composition as a process of developing organization and meaning. According to this view, teacher and colleague's invention strategy, multiple drafts, and formative feedback are also considered to be an important part of lighting instruction in the EFL lighting classroom.

When classroom conversation becomes an integral part of composition guidance, students gain great profit. Their thinking and communication skills are part of the process of linking spoken language and listening. The writing instruction method we describe in this book includes the use of a specific type of discourse strategy, the Paideia workshop combined with the traditional writing process. This method is called the cycle of discourse and writing (DWC). We also use other discussion methods and "conversation / writing" activities to develop and support students' thinking throughout the writing process.

Writing helps to exchange ideas, accomplish tasks, and demonstrate skills mastery. It is an integral part of all elementary school education. Indeed, as new educational trends are adopted in Nigeria, students use writing skills more than ever in the course. Writing is no longer an independent theme, but instead it is now integrated into all the core disciplines. Writing is not easy for all students. For many struggling authors, these assignments and evaluations can be irritated and discouraged. It is difficult to publish ideas on the page in an organized way.
