Amnesty not on AKP’s agenda: Spokesperson

After the Kuomintang Movement Party (MHP) drafted a proposal to pardon certain criminals, the ruling party justice and development party (spokesperson) said, "Amnesty is not a direct agenda of the ruling party."

After ruling party's August 29 Executive Committee meeting, Mr. Cercheke said, "We are maintaining our previously announced position, we have no memory treatment on our agenda."

His comments were made after the MHP completed preparing a draft bill specific to a particular criminal.

This bill is one of the election declarations of the party, which is causing controversy among opposition parties.

Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, leader of the ruling party, said Mr. Cherike did not consider amnesty in the election because he repeated the position on AKP on this issue.
