Several factors contributed to the change of American society in the 1920s. After the First World War, many Americans were tired of President Wilson and his liberal policy. It is irritated as the people voted for Republicans in the first election of the 1920s. The President brought a new conservative quarter and Republicans won power after electing President Harding. However, President Harding died before welcoming President in 1923, Vice President Calvin Coolidge took office as president.
Racial discrimination lasts through America's history, but religious heritage in American society is so. Although the religion of the 1920s still played an important role in American society, rapid change, decline of morality and decline of traditional beliefs resulted in a declining influence (Hoover City School). Still, where religion is strong, people challenge Modernism and are shocked by the despicableness of American lifestyle. These people expressed intolerance to science and Darwin's theory of evolution and kept boasting about the creation of the human god (Miller 229). When the high school biology teacher John Scopes challenged creationism in 1927 and taught his students evolutionary theory, the American educational system was not even more forgiving. This test proves that the state does not tolerate the combination of the society that creates God and the evolution in the evolution of that human being (WWW-VL History Center Roster)
The 1920s was an important period in American history. Time is called the transition period during the world war, but as we know today, its cultural pace forms an American society. The 1920s is an era of major social change and this country is one of the most powerful industrial economies and urban economies in the world. "Prohibition of alcohol", introduction of jazz music, the position of women in society, immigrants are all useful to shape the lives of Americans. These events also brought more cultural diversity and freedom to the United States.
