American Public Education

The public education system in the United States is full of various problems. Most students graduate with less knowledge and ability than similar students in other industrialized countries. Interruption of the classroom is very common, and in some classrooms it is almost continuous. The public education system is difficult to adapt to the behavior to keep children away. "Do not delay children" (NCLB) is an epoch-making event of educational reform aimed at improving the student's academic performance and changing the culture of the American school.

Americans should not keep trying hard to reform public education, instead they should look for alternatives to public education. Americans have heard a lot about the sad condition of public education in this country. Many Americans think schools in the surrounding area have no problem, but most Americans have urgency in educational reform. Where did this concern for public education come from?

This is the latest version of the Center's 1996 Handbook "We still need a public school?" The first part of this update will briefly explain why the US public education system was formed and emerged.
