As the Allies win in Europe and Japan, Korea, occupied by Japan since 1910, will be under temporary control of Russia and the United States. Korea is divided into two separate states on the 38th parallel line, Russia dominates the north, and America dominates the south (Uschan 36). When the relationship between Russia and the United States deteriorates and the Cold War breaks up, they both try to acquire as many allies as possible to support them (Bachrach 11).

When the Korean War broke out in the 1950s, my Korean grandmother had to live with my brother and sisters. Sadly, not all brothers and sisters were able to survive the war. She came to America in the 1970s, so she could build a better life for herself and her daughter. In this way they have the opportunity, freedom and hope for a better tomorrow. When her young teenager emigrated to America, my Korean mother was not fully accepted. She endured bullying, insults and racial discrimination. Sometimes, I do not know if she can keep going. But she is strong and courageous - and she is determined to create a better life for herself.
In the 1950s, the infamous tension of the Cold War could not be captured beyond the Korean War. In order to prevent the spread of communism in North Korea, the Korean War was a bold political victory for the United States. The United States sent the world a clear message that the first military operations of Cold War and the spread of communism are the strongest in the United States. The army will not be tolerated. In addition, the Korean War was caused by the economic interests of the United States.
