In 2000, to move money, John Freyer began listing almost everything he had on the eBay auction site: kitchen cutlery, personal hygiene supplies and Star Wars watch. He purchased the domain name allmylifeforsale.com, designed a website imitating the commercial aesthetics of eBay, indexed pictures, explanations, and sales history of over 600 auction items.

When the auction ends, Freyer notifies the highest bidder of his subject about his personal history and his project and asks them to send updated, written feedback and photos. Then he began an off-road trip and visited bidders in each response. Freyer encountered these items and his interaction with the new owner was recorded on a trip stored on the website temporama.com/html/temporama.html. In 2002, Bloomsbury published the book "All Life in My Life" detailing the content.

On 11th August 2001, the University of Iowa Museum of Art paid $ 107.50 for the last item sold at the Freyer online auction, the domain name itself. A few years later in 2005, the Eberson Museum in Syracuse in New York was reassembled and exhibited many items Freyer sold and held solo exhibitions "Aftermarket: Art, Goods, and Commerce".

In 1999, Freyer co-founded Wind-Up Films, an action sports movie production company. He was a snowboard instructor, a cinematographer for skiing and snowboarding, and a graphic designer. Freyer has created many websites including his ongoing trip to Temporama.com.
