Albert Einstein Expresses His Admiration for Mahatma Gandhi, in Letter and Audio

In 1931 Einstein wrote a letter to Mohandas Gandhi and expressed his great praise for the Indian leaders' approach. This letter was translated from German into parts:

You have shown through your work that even people who have not given up violent ways already can succeed without violence.

That letter is long before the first atomic bomb, a letter written by Einstein to F.D.R. They warn them about their development and use; they often only discuss the terrible events of World War II, but the opposition of physicists to violence and warfare is long-term enthusiasm for him. Einstein called his pacifism "an instinctive feeling", but was based on the "deepest wrath" of "various atrocities and hatreds" rather than "intellectual theory". His politics are often compared with intellectual giants who cooperated in the 1955 peace declaration and anti-war activists Bertrand Russell.

Gandhi still has an important influence on Einstein's life and ideas. In the audio clip since the 1950s, he again provided a generous praise to people called "The Mahatma" (the great soul). In the recording, Einstein told about Gandhi:
