Danfoss air conditioners are durable, energy efficient and affordable, so you can find solutions for residential and commercial air conditioning applications.

According to a government survey in 2015, 87% of American homes use air conditioners, 65% of households use central air conditioners. In most homes with central air conditioners there is a programmable thermostat, but about two-thirds of the household with central air conditioner does not use this function to increase home energy efficiency. Selection of the working fluid (refrigerant) not only has a significant influence on the performance of the air conditioner, but also has a serious effect on the environment. Most refrigerants used in air conditioners cause global warming, and many refrigerants destroy the ozone layer. CFC, HCFC, HFC are effective greenhouse gases when leaking into the atmosphere.

A compressor for an air conditioner is a refrigerant pump of an air conditioning system. The compressor compresses the refrigerant in the system, circulates it to the condenser, and then circulates it to the evaporator. The evaporator is where the pressurized refrigerant is released, causing a pressure drop to produce a cold evaporator, and then the low pressure refrigerant is returned to the compressor for repressurization. The air conditioning compressor is driven by an engine drive belt that can be opened and closed by a solenoid on the front of the compressor (Fig. 2.1).

Refrigerant is a compound that normally exists in fluid or gaseous state. Combined with other parts such as compressor and evaporator, it easily absorbs heat from the environment and performs refrigeration and air conditioning. If you have heard that the R22 refrigerant is phasing out R410A refrigerant, you are particularly interested in knowing how the refrigerant functions and how it functions during cooling of the house maybe. Please go outside and look at the external parts of the air conditioner. If it is side R22, you will cool your home with an outdated, environmentally harmful refrigerant. The US Environmental Protection Agency does not require you to upgrade your equipment soon, but running the R 22 supply, if the system discharges refrigerant leaks, maintenance costs may exceed that value.
