"Why farmers are wrong" The period between 1880 and 1900 was the era of political prosperity in America. This country once escaped the threat of war, many citizens lived comfortably. However, over the last two decades, I noticed that American farmers are getting more and more difficult to live. Since the price of crops such as cotton and wheat, which was formerly a fort for agriculture, is very low, it is almost impossible for farmers to benefit from it. In addition, improved transportation makes foreign competition a reality, making American farmers more difficult to deal with excessive crops.
Several economist historians believe that the economic instability of American agriculture is the main cause of agriculture dissatisfaction in the late nineteenth century. This paper carried out rigorous analysis of the problem and proposed estimation of agricultural economic instability and evidence of agricultural anxiety location and intensity in 14 northern states from 1866 to 1909. My statistics are testing the relationship between the two. The result strongly suggests that agricultural turmoil in the second half of the 19th century is directly related to the economic instability of the country. This conclusion applies to the last third of the whole century and several subperiods.
Documents A - H reveal some of the problems that many farmers believe will pose a threat to their way of life at the end of the nineteenth century (1880-1900). (A) Explain the reason for the discontent of the land, and (b) Evaluate the effectiveness of the farmer's complaint. Many farmers caught in a vicious circle in the second half of the 19th century. Agricultural crop prices are starting to fall, farmers are forced to purchase more land, be able to produce more agricultural crops and sell them equally, are forced to live on the farm. When the good land that can be cultivated is short, the bank took over the mortgage for farmers who can not repay the loan, but on the other hand, the railroad company uses the farmer's advantage to charge excess fare and storage price Did. To some extent, they have influenced larger economic problems affecting the whole country. Generally, the struggle of ordinary farmers during this period is partly due to a substantial increase in world agriculture.
Finally, deflation and price declines in the late 1800s brought the most intense discontent from farmers and patriotic parties. And it resulted from frustration of agriculture. Even in the late 1800's, deflation continued to expand, as evidenced by the sharp decline in the value of wheat and cotton. In order to combat the trend of deflation, populists requested the abolition of "cutting method" in 1873. In the popularist program of the general election in 1892, it was requested that the supply of silver coins and money be limited to "over $ 50 per person" without limitation. Certainly, the country's money supply is inadequate. According to data from the US government in 1961, the population has increased by nearly 4 million from 1865 to 1875, but in fact the country's money supply has declined. In addition, history shows that the war between gold and silver has no practical meaning.
